MY MSA STATEMENT

MY MSA STATEMENT

  • Why study at MSA?

Oprah Winfrey once said: “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you”. When I look back at this quote, I recall the times when I said to myself deliberately that I wanted to become a great architect. Of course, studying in a prestigious university determines the level of greatness. Therefore, I chose Manchester School of Architecture with the desire of becoming successful. Actually, my choice was not only based on the ratings attributed, but it was a mixture of different factors that aroused my interest for this school. In fact, MSA has always kept a high standard of teaching as we can observe from their constant academic performance. Through listening to famous alumnus’ positive feedbacks, I was intrigued by the school’s commitment and devotion to help students to achieve their goals. MSA provides the best tools and equipment out there when it comes to architecture. Consequently, studying architecture at MSA will be a wonderful experience because despite the fact that everything is available for students to find their own motivation and confidence, the school in itself remains and will remain forever the greatest inspiration for students.
  •  Own review of a building visited

During my trip to Dubai, I had the chance to visit the Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world. Actually, I noticed during this visit, that despite exuding beauty exteriorly, inside, it is remarkable as well. However, modernity is not the only factor that captured my attention but also the arrangement of rooms and offices. It is amazing to see how floors are allocated to different agencies or companies depending on their business. For example, penthouses are mostly at the top so as to benefit from an equanimous atmosphere while enjoying the panoramic view of Dubai.

  •  My favorite architect and building

In view of my passion for architecture, I was inspired by several people but also by several buildings. Over the years, I have found my admiration for cubism and geometry thanks to my favorite architect, Norman Foster, who had in him a unique style that I cherished and by his turn, it was by taking inspiration from neo-futurism that Norman made “The Gherkin”. This structure has a lot of unique features that makes it the one and only. In fact, I adore it very much not only because it is modern and outstanding but also because there is a lot of thinking that has gone through in terms of stability, materials and others. Nevertheless, the Gherkin definitely falls in my top five of the world’s most superb buildings.

  •  A work of architecture i would like to experience

A building that I would like to visit is the Louvres Abu Dhabi by Jean Nouvel. The building has required the help of a panel of architects, working together to create this architectural piece. We cannot ignore the most prominent feature of the building that is the giant seemingly floating domed-shape roof that allows natural light to pass through and light up this world of art underneath. In my opinion, the level of creativity and imagination has been reached because we expect most of the time that the beauty that resides inside a museum or an exhibition hall or an art gallery is also present on the outside. Hence, I can say that the challenge was won hands down.
